Rich Fogel

Rich Fogel is an experienced, innovative healthcare executive with a proven track record of leadership using data and technology to drive improved clinical, operational, and financial outcomes across many different settings. He is the former Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer for Ascension, one of the largest healthcare systems in the United States with operating revenue of $28B and over 100,000 associates.

Over his 38-year career, in addition to practicing as a clinical cardiologist, he has had extensive experience in managing complex organizations, been responsible for large P&Ls, and led multiple complex transactions. He has mentored many individuals who have become leaders in their own right. He was responsible for all aspects of quality and safety across Ascension, managed >6,400 physicians and nurse practitioners, and oversaw Ascension’s community impact and engagement work, which resulted in $2.1 billion for the care of poor and vulnerable persons living in poverty. He had overall clinical responsibility for multiple Ascension service lines and led the clinical response to the COVID pandemic including the development of clinical treatment protocols for the more than 200,000 inpatients.
