Wayspring Marks One Year of Clinical Advisory Board Leadership, Strengthening Care for Substance Use Disorder

Wayspring has worked alongside its Clinical Advisory Board (CAB), a group of nationally recognized leaders in behavioral health, addiction medicine, psychiatry, research, and managed care, to strengthen its approach to supporting individuals with substance use disorder (SUD).

Established to provide independent clinical perspective, the CAB helps ensure Wayspring’s care model and network guidance reflect current evidence, real-world experience, and the evolving needs of complex behavioral health populations. Its work reinforces Wayspring’s commitment to disciplined clinical governance, evidence-based care, and high-performing provider networks that support quality and payment integrity.

Over the past year, the CAB’s insight has supported continued alignment across evidence-based treatment standards, care delivery for members with SUD, and network performance expectations tied to measurable quality principles.

The CAB brings together respected thought leaders who contribute informed insight to affirm emerging trends, reinforce consensus around established practices, and elevate the clinical framework underpinning Wayspring’s work. While CAB members do not dictate Wayspring’s clinical model, their independent perspective strengthens confidence that the organization’s approach reflects both clinical rigor and practical application.

The CAB includes leaders with decades of experience across clinical care, research, policy, and health system leadership. Members include:

Dr. Stuart Gitlow
Dr. Gitlow is a nationally recognized leader in addiction medicine and Past President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. Currently he serves as ASAM Delegate to the American Medical Association, bringing deep expertise in addiction medicine and national policy. He is a board-certified psychiatrist in general, addiction, and forensic psychiatry and currently serves as Partner and Chief Medical Officer of Limitless Ventures Recovery Fund.

Dr. Michael GenoveseDr. Genovese is a physician and attorney and serves as Chief Medical Officer, Behavioral Health, at Access TeleCare, the nation’s largest provider of acute specialty telemedicine for health systems. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer of Acadia Healthcare and brings experience across behavioral health delivery, policy, and managed care.

Dr. Genie Bailey
Dr. Bailey is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 40 years of clinical experience and serves as Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. She is Chief of Research at Stanley Street Treatment and Resources and has contributed to many of the most significant NIH and NIDA funded clinical trials in substance use disorder care. Dr. Gregory Barclay
Dr. Barclay is a board-certified psychiatrist and serves as Executive Director of the American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry and President of the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry. He previously served as Behavioral Health Medical Director for Highmark Health Options, Delaware’s largest managed Medicaid program.
