Iora Health Hires New Chief Medical Officer, Tyler Jung, MD
BOSTON, Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Iora Health today announced that Tyler Jung, MD, joined as Chief Medical Officer on January 7, 2019.
Jung, a physician executive with more than 20 years of experience in managed care, population health, innovative care delivery, transitioning from volume to value, and leadership at the provider and plan level, joins Iora from Molina Healthcare, where he served as Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Jung's expertise in clinical performance delivery will be key in furthering Iora's alignment of cost and quality.
"We are excited to have Tyler join Iora. His experience as a practicing physician combined with his leadership roles in large medical groups gives him important insights into the challenges and opportunities facing our providers every day as we work to transform health care," said Rushika Fernandopulle, co-founder and CEO of Iora Health. "Tyler's experience aligning care decisions with patient goals and coordinating care to reduce unnecessary and harmful events will have direct impacts on patient and provider experiences as we continue to grow our care model across the country."
Prior to Molina, Jung was Chief Medical Officer at DaVita HealthCare Partners Medical Group. As a key leader of the Davita Medical Group, Jung helped scale the high performing medical group across eight states. During this time, Jung also helped to drive improvements in Star measures across markets leading to 86% of measures ranked at four and five on HEDIS quality.
"A patient's care, experience and outcomes are directly impacted by their experiences with their provider and care team. The quality of care at Iora, the culture and the opportunity to impact the care of a rapidly growing number of older adults across the country drew me to this exciting opportunity. I could not be more thrilled to join the high quality and passionate Iora team," said Jung. "At Iora, it is obvious that the fabric and DNA is different, allowing for better experiences of care for providers and patients."
Iora Health's patients overall see a 40% decrease in hospitalizations and a 20% decrease in ER visits while also reporting high rates of satisfaction; Iora Health patients report an average 90 Net Promoter Score.
