Wayspring and Delaware First Health Join Forces to Advance Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Dover, Delaware., July 30, 2025 — Delaware residents impacted by substance use disorder (SUD) now have greater access to life-changing care through a new partnership between Delaware First Health, a Medicaid Managed Care Organization, and Wayspring. This collaboration expands whole-person care throughout the community, addressing the unique challenges of SUD and offering vital resources to help individuals achieve lasting recovery.
The partnership gives Delaware First Health members access to Wayspring’s whole-person care model, which integrates substance use treatment, physical and behavioral healthcare, and support for social factors like housing, food security, and employment assistance—key components often overlooked in traditional treatment approaches.
“This partnership is fantastic news for Delaware residents who have long faced barriers to effective substance use disorder care,” said Carter Paine, CEO of Wayspring. “We’re expanding our footprint in Delaware with one goal: to make recovery more accessible, compassionate, and impactful for every member we serve.”
Wayspring’s approach is informed by deep expertise and a team with lived experience—many outreach team members are in active recovery themselves, offering understanding and empathy. In addition to connecting members to critical community resources, Wayspring’s care team will provide individualized support while bridging gaps in care. Members can connect with their care team onsite, telephonically, or virtually for flexibility and convenience.
“Substance use disorder is a barrier that prevents many people from living happy and healthy lives,” said Bill Wilson, Delaware First Health’s Plan President and CEO. “This new partnership with Wayspring will give our members the tools and support they need to reclaim their lives and thrive. We’re excited to work with Wayspring on advancing our shared goals of improving health outcomes and strengthening communities throughout Delaware.”
This collaboration marks a positive step forward for Delaware, paving the way for more solutions that address one of the state’s most pressing public health challenges. Together, Delaware First Health and Wayspring are transforming the care landscape, offering Delaware residents a brighter, healthier future.
