Liam Donohue

Liam Donohue has spent the past 30 years as a venture investor, but he is perhaps most proud of his entrepreneurial activities – founding/co-founding four successful businesses, including two venture capital funds.

He started his career as a Principal at Foster Management, a venture investor focused on service industry investments; then co-founded Arcadia Partners, a fund focused on technology-enabled education and healthcare companies; and finally, co-founded .406 Ventures with Larry Begley and Maria Cirino in 2005. Over this time, Liam has invested over $405M of capital in 44 investments.

Along the way, Liam founded and took on CEO responsibilities for Business Intelligence Advisors, now a .406 portfolio company. This is where he gained an appreciation for the challenges and thrills of building a fast growing start-up company. 

Earlier in his career, Liam also had a foundational ‘intrapreneurial’ experience, opening and leading Booz•Allen & Hamilton’s first office in Budapest, Hungary.

At .406, Liam oversees the firm and leads healthcare investments, focusing on early-stage companies that are improving the way US healthcare is delivered. Liam also has scar tissue (read: experience) in green tech, an area of personal interest, and ed-tech.

Beyond .406, Liam serves as a Trustee of the John A. Hartford Foundation, the largest U.S. foundation dedicated to improving care for older adults and sits on the Board of Advisors for the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Liam earned a BS in Chemistry from Georgetown University and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business.
