Boston's .406 Ventures, which focuses on early-stage investments into enterprise-facing technology companies, said Tuesday it has promoted Greg Dracon to partner from principal, a position he's held since 2007.

Dracon becomes the first partner at .406 who was not a founder of the firm. Launched in 2005, .406's founders/partners are Maria Cirino, previously the co-founder of Guardent (acquired by VeriSign in 2005); Larry Begley, former CFO of Razorfish; and Liam Donohue, founder of Boston venture firm Arcadia Partners.

Among the investments Dracon has been involved with are Mashery (acquired by Intel this year), WellAware Systems (acquired by Healthsense this month), Kaltura and Cambridge-based MineralTree.

In a news release, Donohue said that "based on his significant contributions to the growth and success of .406 Ventures over the past six years, we're proud to recognize (Dracon) as our Partner."

The promotion follows the closing of .406's second venture capital fund in December, at just north of $175 million.
