Boston, October 5, 2016 – Pwnie Express, the leading provider of device threat detection for wired, wireless and IoT devices, today announced the appointment of William (Bill) Swanson, former Chairman and CEO of Raytheon, to its board of directors. Swanson brings more than four decades of leadership experience working with government, enterprise and the armed services to Pwnie and its growing customer base.

“We are thrilled to have Bill support Pwnie’s growth by joining our board of directors,” said Paul Paget, CEO, Pwnie Express. “Bill’s leadership and information security track record, as well as his experience working with leaders in government, armed services, and industry, solidifies our momentum across these critical sectors.”

Swanson served as chairman and CEO of Raytheon from January 2004 to March 2014. He retired from Raytheon in September 2014, finishing a forty-two-year career with the company. During Swanson’s tenure as CEO, Raytheon’s stock price and dividend increased three-fold.

“I am excited to join the visionary team at Pwnie Express,” said Bill Swanson. “IoT is fundamentally shifting the way enterprises and government agencies need to look at their security strategies and operations. Pwnie is in a commanding leadership position to help teams in the public and private sectors who are grappling with ways to best keep their data secure, as the number of potential risks has soared due to the proliferation of unsecured devices.”

Among his other professional accomplishments, Mr. Swanson is a member of the Presidents National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and chaired the committee on the Internet of Things. He is currently a member of the Department of Defense’s Defense Business Board, and sits on the board of directors for NextEra Energy Inc., where he serves as chairman of the audit committee. He is actively involved in the Boston community as chairman of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership and vice chairman of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation board of directors.

He is also active in the field of education as chairman of the California Polytechnic State University Foundation board of directors, and as a member of the Cal Poly President’s Cabinet and the University of Massachusetts President’s Advisory Council.
